More on the Meridians

And now for the next 3  Meridians. Just a reminder that imbalances in the Meridian system may cause pain, numbness, heat or cold issues and illness. This can be the result of an injury along the Meridian line, overuse of a limb or muscles along the Meridian line, or an organ  injury or weakness  along the Meridian line. Have you ever noticed that when you have pain in the lower abdominal area, your neck may be stiff also? This can be the result of the Small Intestine Meridian being blocked for a time-Shiatsu or acupressure can assist in the balancing of the energies there.
The 3 Meridians I will discuss now are the Spleen, Heart and the Small Intestine. The Spleen runs from the side of the chest, all the way to the big toe. If there is a block or imbalance, there may be a cold feeling along the Meridian, weakness of the leg muscles, pain in the big toe, pain in the medial muscles or joints of the ankle, leg, thigh or groin and strain in the upper portion of the rectus abdominis. The illnesses associated with that Meridian are problems of the Spleen and Pancreas, abdominal distension, jaundice, general weakness and sluggishness, tongue problems, vomiting and pain along the Meridian.
The Heart runs from under the armpit to the little finger.  A block or imbalance may cause pain in the eyes, pain on the inner side of the arm, pain along the scapula, cramping inside the chest and pain and stiffness along the Meridian. The illnesses associated with that Meridian are heart problems, dryness of the throat and jaundice.
The Small Intestine  runs from in front of the ear to the little finger.  A block or imbalance may cause pain or stiffness in the neck, pain in the elbow, pain along the outside of the arm and scapula, stiffness or pain in the little finger, ringing earache, pain from ear to jaw, vision problems and pain along the Meridian.  The illnesses associated with that Meridian are pain in the lower abdomen, sore throat, swelling or paralysis of the face and deafness.
These are 4-6 of the 12 Meridians, there will be more info to follow-and remember, this is only 1 technique of looking at the body system to work with illness and imbalance. Your practitioner cannot diagnose or cure you, they can only work with your body in order to create a healing environment so you can be at optimal health.
